St. Patty's Day Beach Adventure!

We celebrated the day for the Irish by going to the beach and swimming in the green-ish waters of the gulf with our friends Jared, Laura & Euan. Topped off with some dutch oven roast and chocolate fondue at home! Great Great Great Day!

Houston Zoo

During Spring Break we did the unthinkable and went to the zoo. We didn't realize it would be such a crazy place! Apparently everyone else in the greater Houston area had the same idea, but we made the most of it.

Although we didn't see half of what we were hoping, we did really enjoy seeing lots of animals!

We met up with are very good friends Laura & her son Euan at the zoo, but with the hoards of people and the heat we decided to take the kids to play in the fountain:

There are, of course, a TON more pictures to see by Clicking HERE!

We'll try the zoo again soon :()

Life's a Beach!

Last week or so we went as a family to Quintana Beach near our house (about 15 min away) and spent the afternoon just playing, finding shells, getting wet and having a grand time!

Grandma Jurgens Comes to Texas

Grandma came out for a visit a couple weeks ago, and we did all kinds of fun things.

First up, we visited the Space Center in Houston, where we got to see Mission Control, the Saturn V rocket, and one insanely massive playground (Mae's favorite part)

Mission control. How cool is that?

The Saturn V rocket, which launched five separate Apollo missions.

The best part of this was when Mae ran away with the helmet on, attached to the tether. Total clothesline effect.

Grandma is always buying the girls' very generous souvenirs, wherever we go. She's awesome like that. Maeby scored this space shuttle, and Georgie picked out the pink monkey (which doesn't have anything to do with NASA, but whatever.) Maeby sleeps with her "Space Kuh-nuttle" every night (we're not sure why she calls it that, but we just roll with it.)

On the ferry in Galveston:

At the rainforest pyramid in Galveston:
(Mae and this otter played together through the glass for quite some time.)

Georgie doesn't notice that there's a butterfly walking on her blanket.

We spent one weekend in San Antonio. Our hotel swimming pool didn't look anything like Mickey Mouse, but Maeby insisted that it was a "Mickey Mouse" pool.

The Alamo:

Seaworld:

Georgie was having an allergic reaction to sunscreen. She was fine after we wiped it off. No worries.

Georgie trying her first cotton candy.

Georgie kept grabbing all of the characters' faces, trying to eat them.

Maeby rode her first big-kid ride, which includes a near-vertical drop-and-splash. She laughed and laughed at the bottom, but check out her face on the journey down (second row)

We HAD to pay extra $$ to feed the dolphins so she could pet them. Once she got up close, though, she wouldn't put her hands near them.

Six Flags:

She won this Superman cape, which she proudly calls her "Lightning McQueen cape" (because it's red)

Mae took this picture. Her first ever.

"I will eat your face!"

In all, we had a spectacular visit with Grandma, whom the girls adore beyond belief. Thanks for a great visit, Mom!
