Utah Part 1 - Time with Papa

We took a trip out to Utah earlier this month. It was quite an adventure. Jeremy was able to come for about 5 days of it. It was supposed to be in the mid 90's in Houston the day we left. When we arrived in Salt Lake City it was snowing!

Coincidentally this was Georgie's 1st experience with Snow

side note: Georgie happened to be wearing the same outfit Maeby wore the first time she experienced snow

While Jeremy was there we also went to Gardner Villiage. For some reason Jeremy and I had never been there while we lived in Utah. It was all decked out for Halloween. We had so much fun.

Georgie slept through most of it:

Maeby LOVED trying on all the witch hats she could find.

There were witched EVERYWHERE!

But Maeby's favorite part was the pony rides.

and the hula-hoops

We also took the opportunity to see Jeremy's Grandma Jurgens (his dad's mom). She is one of my most favorite people. The girls loved getting to play with her and hear stories and have a good afternoon together.

National Night Out in Katy

A few weeks back (oh about the 4th of October) Texas held its belated National Night Out against Crime event. http://nno.org/nno/ Most places in the country do this in August but its so hot here that its not safe to be outdoors for that long in that kind of heat etc etc. So, they do it in October.

The girls and I went and met up with our friend Laura & her son Euan. It was a blast!

Bounce Houses:

Fun prizes & gifts for the kids - including glow sticks and fireman hats, pizza and soda and candy and snow cones etc.

They capped the night off with a showing of Madagascar II. Coincidentally, Maeby's new favorite song is "I like to Move it" which she sings and dances to constantly. It was so much fun and we can't wait to do it again next year!

Let's not forget Georgie!

I realized all the other posts this past week are heavily Maeby-centric (I guess that's ok since it was her birthday) so here's what Georgie was up to....

3rd Birthday Extravaganza!

Maeby turned 3 this past weekend. She has been counting down until her birthday for weeks. We had a little birthday party for her with the kids from church. It was a fun, low key get together.

She insisted on wearing her Tinkerbell pjs and really...its her party so why not?

We went swimming and had a lot of fun playing in the water and having the kids just be goofy.

By the end of it all, even Maeby was a little alarmed at how messy her room had gotten.

We opened presents later. She got a Rapunzel dress from her Grandma Jurgens and has hardly worn much else since.

This is the cake I made for her birthday party.

On her actual birthday we went up to the Museum of Natural History in Houston and met up with my good friend Erica & her sister Stephanie. We went to the butterfly gardens there which were spectacular.

For more pictures & video of the butterfly gardens (there are LOTS more) click here.

We also went to the other parts of the museum but my camera battery died and there are no pictures. We will be going back there for sure and I will post pictures then :)

She had a fantastic birthday and we're very proud of our smart, beautiful, funny little three year old. Can't wait to see what next year brings :)

Frogs

We have found that we get frogs that like to hop around our complex. Jeremy and Maeby have caught 2 so far. I took pictures of one encounter.

and yes, the bathtub was cleaned after we let him go.
