Maeby Had a Little Lamb!

Oregon State University does a lot of research on sheep. This time of year is when lambs are born and you can go to the lambing barn and experience the miracle of birth!

AND WE DID! WE DID TWICE!



Maeby's first sheep encounter. She squeeled with excitement.

This little guy is probably only a couple of days old and was so fun to watch run and skip and play with friends (there are currently over 200 babies there right now)

I SOOOOOO know how this ewe feels.....

Yup, that's a lamb in birthing process. No joke. On Monday when Grandma, Jayna, Maeby and I went a few had just been born when we got there. This was taken on Saturday when Jeremy and I went back with Maeby and three were born while we were there and we got to witness the whole bloody affair. It was actually pretty interesting - I'd say it brought back memories, but I was pretty drugged by this stage of labor :)

This is the lamb who was being birthed in the picture above less than 5 minutes after being born.

Maeby loves the little lambs. She got really excited to see them.

No, she didn't get bit. She was just tired and hungry - and I realized that we have almost no pictures of her crying which may lead people to believe she never cries (HA!)

This lamb is only a couple of days old. So cute.

It was a fun, cool, free place to go and I think we'll go back there again :)

this week in Maeby-land: new toys, new friends, and the end of an era

Although, sometimes it's hard to keep it where it goes. She sucked on the side for about 10 seconds before she realized something was wrong.



Here we are reading the penultimate chapter of the Hobbit, the book I began reading to her while she was in utero. It makes me a little sad to come to the end, but excited to get to start something new with her soon. Do you think she's too young for Vonnegut?
Probably.



The other night, Jenn gave her a spatula to hold while we were cooking dinner. It has since become her new close friend, and she enjoys clutching it tightly and taking it everywhere. And, of course, sucking on it profusely.

The wooden spoon stopped working once she accidentally hit herself in the head. Also, it's not as pleasant to gum on.

She was sitting up for a moment. Unfortunately, the shutter went off two seconds too late.

Finally: meet Shirley the bear-blanket. Shirley is Maeby's new best friend and constant companion. Shirley goes everywhere: to bed, in the car, in the swing, on the playmat, in her bouncy seat, and etc. . . Shirley is fleece, pink, and has a ladybug on her side. Sometimes, we go into her room at night and Maeby will, literally, be holding Shirley's hand in her sleep.

It is the most adorable thing in the history of blankets. And bears.

I'm not sure if that's normal for a four-month old, but she's doing it just the same. Sure, we have to position here there; and, sure, she falls over after a minute or two - but for that minute or two, she'll stand there.

Stand.

Elephants

As previously mentioned Maeby really liked the Elephants at the zoo, but this is going a little too far!!!!

I just pray that pictures like this don't end up causing some kind of eating disorder down the road.......

SUPER BOWL XLIII

Spending the Super Bowl with Uncle Chris, Aunt Sara, Jayna, Alec & Hayliegh......
